Could you guys confirm what's the exact function of the above input?

Thanks.

Mine has two RJ-45s

One is for Denon Link, their digital multi-channel interconnect. Only works with another Denon device with Denon Link output (in my case, a DVD-3910).
The second one is a network jack for internet radio streaming.

Thanks Geno,

was a bit confused on that, because I've read somewhere that both RS 232 & RJ-45 ports are intended for control systems (AMX, Crestron, etc.).
Probably I misunderstood that, though.

A friend of mine just got one and I'll be helping him out on the setup by tomorrow (its going to be his very 1st Denon AVR though).

Thanks again & have a nice weekend!

Hi,
I thought the RJ-45 port could also be used to connect to a PC so that your PC could act as a music server. Am I mistaken about that?

If the 4306 is connected to your home network via it's ethernet jack, you can do the following:

1) Internet Radio Access
2) Access MPG2/WMA/WAV files on your home computer (need Windows Media Connect to be installed on the PC which is hosting the files)
3) Control the 4306 via a web browser (Explorer, FireFox)
4) Back-up the 4306's configuration to your PC and restore the configuration to your 4306 if it is ever lost or changed.
5) Install firmware updates to the 4306

Might be able to do more, but I know you can do at least the 5 things above.
