About to pull the trigger on this one...

Anyone have any experience with this gem, particularly commenting on ease of setup. The 3808ci has an ethernet port, so you could perform tweaks through your pc at home, or even remotely (custom installers).

I just cannot see a reason not to buy this beauty!! :D

Well, I don't own one, but you got my blessing.:D

It looks like a fine piece of equipment that will give you many years of home theater enjoyment.

Denon is just cool.

I bought a 3808 about 3 months ago, and I'm very happy with it. It's a little bit tricky to set up in the beginning (the manual doesn't help that much) but once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze. You won't be disappointed. All my gear is Denon and I'm planning on getting the DVD 2500BTCI since I'll be doing all the decoding in the 3808.

I currently have the Marantz SR7002 and previously the SR7001.

I've been looking at the 3808CI to because of the DTS-BOMB and True HD popping issues with my SR7002, as well as the Subwoofer -9db Audessey issues. These issues are apparently corrected through Firmware updates but, the Marantz units do not allow the user to do the updates and it must be taken to a Auth service ctr where it could take two weeks. To me its a PITA and I don't like the idea of shipping my electronics out and risk having it damaged in the process.

The 3808CI has network connectivity making it a snap to update your own FW. Other features like internet radio and Audessey MULTEQ XT should be an improvment.

Marantz is very user friendly, has outstanding sound for music and from what I've read, "The 3808CI is not user friendly, has a terrible manual and remote, sounds better for HT and not bad for music and once setup your good to go".

I still haven't made up my mind yet but, I'm leaning towards the 3808ci or 4308ci.

Cheers,

Ray

3808ci

I have owned this for about 4 months now and i can easily say this is my best investment. I love the User interface. I like the internet radio. plenty of clean power. 4 hdmi inputs. the only down side of this i have is when you plug in a usb drive with music on it, you cannot fast forward though the song. I just plug it into my PS3 now and i can control my music the way i want to. Actually, there is one more thing i don't care for - the original main remote. it is a terrible piece. I have the harmony 880 thank god and control everything from there. the second zone remote works perfectly and i have no complaints with that one. any other questions you might have feel free to send me a message.
