Denon 3808ci Surround mode?

For all you Denon guys out there or anyone who knows.... I am using the HDMI cable for audio/video from my Blu-ray player into the Denon 3808. When I select the Uncompressed audio option for a movie what mode does the amp need to be on the take advantage of this? It currently is on Multi CH IN 7.1 for example on Spidey 3 (uncompressed) I currently have my samsung bdp1400 set to PCM out and just leave the amp on Multi Ch in 7.1 for uncompressed movies. Now when using Dolby True HD you would be using the Amp's decoder and have the Bluray set to Bitstream out, right? But letting the DVD player decode it and send it right to the amp is supposed to be the best setting, no?

Your settings will have the player do the decoding. You would need to change the output format in the player to have the receiver handle it. Most likely the receiver will sense the codec automatically and decode it if it arrives in bitstream. Which way works best is something you may be able to determine by trying it both ways. Most likely, it won't make any difference where you do the decoding but it might.
