Hi: I've narrowed down to these 3 choices basically to replace my Pioneer 56txi.I'm using Axiom M-60's,Axiom vp-150 center channel, Mirage 190's for the rear soon to also be replaced with Axiom QS-8's.The room is approx 2,100 cubic feet.So which is the best choice to replace the pioneer in terms of sound quality in stereo? If you have any other options let me know. Thanks as always

And these would be from Canada I guess?
Is there a big difference in price?

Me, I think Marantz is a better match for your Axiom speakers.
But the Denon 3808 is much more up to date, with much more features.

You can discard the 7001.
It's really down to the 8001 vs the 3808. Tough choice indeed.
Still, I opt for the 8001. That's just me then, I think it has a more spacious and detailed sound than the 3808.

Yep, that's what I'll do if I'll have those Axioms.

* By the way, that 8001 is only $700 in the USA.
And the 7001 is only $500 USA.
And the 3808 is about $900 USA.
==> What about their Canadian prices?

I always thought the Denon 3*** models were comparable to Marantz 7*** models, likewise the Denon 4*** models are comparable to Marantz 8*** models.

So yes from your choices the Marantz 8001 will be the better choice of those 3.

I think you're right, the reason why I recommended the Marantz SR8001. :)

-> Just scroll down a bit.

*** Excellent deal ($699.99). :) ---> But this is in the USA, the OP is a Canadian, from Ontario.

Denon vs Marantz

Thanks so for the advice however funds are very tight(On disability in Ontario) so although I'd like to get the 8001 it very much depends on what I can get for my Pioneer 56txi + say $100-$225 so wondering how much better would the 8001 be over the 7001 given my Axiom's are 8ohm speakers and are very easy to drive(93db I think). Thanks again for your help LOTR and everyone else! I think acc4 less ships to Canada.

"wondering how much better would the 8001 be over the 7001"

If you've never heard a 8**** Marantz you won't know what you're missing and be more than happy with a 7001.

In my case I have an SR8000 and a SR7300 OSE, I noticed the difference mainly listening to 2 channel 'direct' music. ( but I was aware of the difference)

I recently got a SR8500 for $375 and the difference is noticeable for surround as well as 2 channel. More dynamic really opens up my 8ohm Von Schweikerts :D

But again the 7*** is the next best:)

Hi,

I understand perfectly your situation.
The Marantz SR7001 fits the bill perfectly with your speakers and your financial funds.
It's only $499.99 at Accessories4Less, and you won't give up anything substantial to the SR8001.
The SR7001 is 110 watts by 7, where the SR8001 is 125 watts by 7, nothing to fret over.
And besides, the SR7001 still have all the same nice features than the SR8001; Audyssey MultEQ, THX Select2, etc. Same weight too.

* Go for it, you'll love it, and for $500, it's a superb value. :)

Cheers,
Bob
