Denon 3806 + Rotel RMB 1075 = Overkill???

I'm getting a Denon 3806 for a pair of B&W 804 & HTM4 center (with B&W inwall rears) for music & HT system. Would adding the Rotel 1075 (a 5 channel 130W amp) be an overkill? Is the 3806 sufficient for the 804s -- I don't listen very very loud anyway.

the rotel RMB-1075 is officially stated as 120x5 on the rotel website, not 130x5, for what it's worth. i have no idea about whether or not you're proposal would be overkill, but if it were me and i really wanted to spend the $$$ on separate amplification, i'd want to overdo it a little rather than risk moving sideways or underdoing it. maybe the RMB-1095 is something to consider or some other 200 wpc solution.

Why not wait until you had some time to evaluate that new 3806. You have lots of time. That Rotel would not be an upgrade as it is about the power of the 3806, no? How much is it?

I have the 3806, but I don't have B&W speakers (I have DefTech BP2000 mains / CLR3000 Center / BPVX surrounds). I would also wait and see how the 3806 sounds with your system. For mine, I would like to add a separate mono amp for my center or something to take a little bit of the work off the Denon, but that's not a big priority since for 99% of my listening, the Denon handles everything great. It's only when I want to turn things up pretty LOUD that another amp would be nice. Just wait and see how the Denon does with your system. It's a nice receiver, not a true 120x7 all channels driven... but it'd eat a Sony receiver up any day!

the 1075 and a 1080 is about 1000+USD
a 1095 and a 1090 about 2000+USD

personally, I'd recommend for you amplification for your fronts only, so the amps on the denon wouldnt go to waste. but yes, thats after you follow mtrycrafts suggestion.

Get at least 200 WPC for the 804 and HTM4. The 800 series do better with more power.
