Hi All,

I’ve done some internet research and can’t find an answer to my problem. Going to Denon won’t help because I purchased my gear from Singapore and I live in Australia. So now I’m just going to throw it out here and hope that some of you gurus can help.

Here’s my current setup.

One recently purchased a Denon 3806 Receiver.
Sanyo Z2 Projector (Hooked up to the 3806 via a 5 Meter Blue Jeans HDMI to DVI cable)
1910 DVD player (Connected to the 3806 using 1 meter blue jeans HDMI to DVI cable.)
Xbox connected to 3806 using blue jeans component cable.
Xbox 360 connected to 3806 using supplied component cables.

Here’s my problem. When playing Xbox or Xbox 360 games they both look dark. Games like Gotham racing or Burnout revenge look like I’m playing at dusk or something. Even the DVDs look a little more dark than usual when I’m playing them through the 1910. I’ve read the 3806 manual and have noticed there are a few different colour space options. There is YCbCr, RGB normal and RGB Enhanced. I have tried all three options and they don’t help (RGB Enhanced only makes it darker). So for now I have left it on RGB Normal mode.

Tonight I just connected my Xbox 360 directly to my projector and for it the darkness problem goes away. Everything looks great. This really sucks. I was hoping that by buying a receiver I would have one central control point to switch between all of my various inputs. Is there something I’m doing wrong? Please help.

Jaime.

How does the DVD look going direct to the projector?
Had you had problems with this before, or the 3806 is new for you?
Maybe there are video calibration to do on that 3806 as on a TV?

Looks fine connecting directly to the projector. Nope, no video calibration setup :(

Actually now that I look at it it is only happening from component inputs being converted to digital out the HDMI/DVI output to the projector. Direct digital seems to be ok.
