Denon 3806 Flakey Zone 2 When Using Internal Amps

Anyone else here with a 3806 have problems with their Zone 2 function when using the internal amps? I seem to have an intermittent issue, where the Zone 2 sound will function one day but not the next. I have fiddled with the Zone 2 settings, including disabling then reenabling the surround rear amps, but there seems to be no clear root cause for the problem. Last night, my son came home and told me the Zone 2 speakers were broadcasting the TV show to the patio, but I hadn't switched on the Zone 2 function. I am about to reset the receiver microprocessor to see if there is some weird mode I can banish, but I first wanted to se if anyone else here had seen this behavior. BTW, the RX has plenty of space for heat dissipation, so I don't believe the problem is the amp protection circuit. TIA.

It's not the same but I had some weirdness with my 2805 when I first got it. The center channel would drop to a almost inaudible level. When I would reset the microprocessor it would come back. It did it a few times. Denon told me to pick up my reciever and shake it to try to replicate the problem, something about a possible bad soldering job. That did nothing, then they said to replace the itnerconnect to the center and the cable from it, in case it was shorting. I did that and it never happened again, yet.

Are you sure nobodies accidentally hitting the button on your remote? Besides that, call or email Denon. They are a lot quicker with email. You could be on hold for quite a while.

Are you aware that zones 2/3 only transmit analog signals? You need an analog connection to your DVD/CD player to hear that signal in the zones. Also, it is not always clear with Denons that the zones are either on or off.

I haven't done a vibration test on the receiver, but I definitely have been tempted to do that or worse! I just disasembled my audio rack for a carpet install, so I am gong to do some bench tests to see if I can replicate the problem while I have better access to the unit. As for Zone 2 analog, I am aware of that limitation; however, since I have managed to get Zone 2 to work in the past, it doesn't seem like the input is the problem. In fact, I don't even get a consistent tuner output, which requires no external inputs of any type (except the antenna).
