Hi all. This is my first English post.

I seek the last minute checklist from you, the informative audioholics, which big electronic companies' monopolies influencing HT magazines (such as HiVi, What HiFi) do not affect much :)

I've had a bad experiences with my Sony STR-DA3000ES. I suffered the video dropout fault. However I couldn't find any public complaint about it here!!!, while I saw a pile of protests and even a news regarding its Recall from the Western users. This is why I had to write this posting using my not-so-fluent English. :)

The local prices are; Denon3805 - 14500 yen, Yamaha2400 - 10000 yen.

1. Denon RoomEQ vs YPAO - Denon's does not set the Crossover up. Is this troublesome? Or does it make the room EQ meaningless because all the speaker size measurements and frequency adjustments depend based upon it?

Thinking about the enhancement in RX-V2500, is the manual tuning in parametric EQ essential which the 2400 lacks?

2. Brighter vs Warmer - I know this totally depends on individual taste. But for instance, in the German vs Roman battle scene from the Gladiator, would you prefer the massive stack of arrows flying over you to the countable number of many, many, many arrows depicting the scene.
Or does it totally rely on the sound volume so that at lower volume one cannot distinguish.

3. The price of Denon is 1.5 times Yamaha here (about $400 difference). Do you think it is worth overall?

Thank you all for reading this lengthy and somewhat personal questions.

I own the Denon 3805, and when I was looking for a new reciever I directly compared the Yamaha RX-V2400 and the Denon. I bought the Denon because I prefer the warmer sound from it. Having said that I haven't listened to the new RX-v2500 to see if Yamaha have addressed this.

Don't drive angry!

I haven't seen any posts about the Sony ES line on these pages at all, good or bad. The entire ES line doesn't seem to be doing to well here in the states, though the "entry level" STR-DA897 and 997 are well regarded for the price. I've seen a few other sites with long lines of 1000 and 3000 problems.

I think you'll find the Denon 2805 to be much more competitive with the Yammy 2400. It doesn't have the third room and Denon link of the 3805 (though strangely enough it comes with a free microphone where the 3805 charges about $ 65 USD extra). If you can live without the link and the third room, the 2805 is a much more cost-effective approach.

Rumours are also floating for a new Denon 4805, which may drive 3805 prices down in the moderately near future.
