I really like the Denon 3805....but it doesn't have HDMI. Is that a downfall that can cause problems in the future?

Is there another reciever in the same price range that offers HDMI?

Thanks

I am not aware of any in that price range w/HDMI. It is mostly just on TVs and some newer A/V products. A year ago EVERYTHING was DVI and nothing was HDMI though, so it's hard to say if HDMI really is going to be a 'standard'.

If it does and you want HDMI switching, there will be something that'll take care of it I would expect.

It's new and there are licensing fees so it is presently appearing in higher-end units. We are guessing that a year or so from now it will be commonplace.

HDMI and IEEE 1394 interfaces need to be on every receiver over $750 in my opinion.

The Marantz sr8500 has DVI switching which is as good as you'll get at this price point or you can wait until late this year to get an HDMI switching one (probably quite a bit more expensive).

I believe HDMI will become the standard.....in time.....unless there's another interface waiting in the wings. It will replace DVI. I would think that to be viable, a receiver will have to have three inputs and presently that's big bucks. Unless you're willing to wait over a year, it probably shouldn't be a consideration.
