Denon 3805 display lights for 2 seconds, then turns off

I have a 2 year old. That is not the problem.

The problem is after he was playing with the remote(I know, BAD), the receiver display will light up whenever I do something such as turn up the volume, but will then go dark after 2-3 seconds. It is NOT in pure direct mode which I know does the same thing.

I have checked the manual and surfed the web but have not found a solution.

Any ideas?

The problem is that you have the display dimmed alway down to off. This will cause it to light up for a few seconds and then go blank. Check the remote. It should have button labled "Dimmer" or "Display" or something to that effect. It's a 4 step toggle button that goes from Bright, Dim, Dimmer, and then off. I have the same receiver but I use a different remote so I don't remember what the original button is labeled.

I'm sure that's what the problem is.

My initial post on re-reading was somewhat unclear, but I am talking about the display on the receiver itself, not the remote control display. The remote does have a dimmer control, for the remote.

The front panel on the 3805 will light up when I change something, ie CD to DVD, but then goes blank again in a few seconds. It is not in Pure Direct mode.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
