While you are waiting for response from experienced Audiolab 8000A users, I can tell you my 3805 + a 200 (or 300)WPC amp made no difference for me in my listening environment. Depending on your listening habit that little Audiolab amp may not make any difference for you either. I still hooked my AV receiver up to an amp because it is better to have more power reserve regardless.

If you feel you need more power you should consider something at least twice as powerful as the 3805. I understand power amps typically rate their output more conservatively but I dare say for two channel listening the 3805 is more powerful than the Audiolab 8000A and if you are expecting your speakers to sound better you may or may not be (Placebo may do it for you) disappointed.
