Denon 3312 not producing sound

I've had my trusty 3312ci for several years and it's always worked like a champ. Recently, however, we've been having an issue where no sound comes out of the receiver. You can sometimes fix it by power cycling the receiver or switching it to a different input and then back (I.e. From TV to DVD and then back), but it seems to be occurring more and more frequently and takes more and more work to fix. Is this an issue where I'm just due for a new receiver (the Denon is probably 8 years old), does it need repair, or should I be suspicious that one of my kids accidentally changed some bizarre setting that I can't find?

From your menu of possibilities, you can rule out “kids accidentally changed some bizarre setting.” :(

Not worth the cost of repair. That is about the life of a receiver. The HDMI board is going out.
