Denon 2807 Volume Question

I just installed a 2807 (tickled pink, upgrade from 3802), and I have a question regarding volume limits: I've turned off the volume limit feature in the setup, but when the unit's putting out PLIIx and other processes, the volume level stops at -4.00 Db. That's with a DVD connected via HDMI/Optical audio. With the tuner, with the same Dolby output, volume maxes out at -2.00 or thereabouts. If I switch to the straight Stereo or any unprocessed output, I can do what I want.

Yeah, I know, that's probably loud enough, but still, I want the feeling of control. Is this a limit imposed by the Dolby folks, or what? There's no mention of it in the manual, naturally, so it's driving me nuts. If it's the way it is, that's fine, I'm just curious as to why the limit's there.

Thanks for your help.

Not certain, but I believe if you have the level for any channel past +0.0dB then you will be limited in how far you go up. Again, I'm not certain, it's just something I think I remember my old Denon manual saying.
