I recently moved and had to set up my Denon 2807 receiver again, with my Def Tech 7006 towers. For some reason, the volume levels seem to be very low compared to what they were like when I had them previously set up.

Also, I purchased a center channel and cannot seem to get the Center to work alongside the Fronts. I'm using a PS3 as the source, and for the life of me cannot figure it out. Any suggestions?

Do you have a larger room to fill? You may need to recalibrate to the new space. Check the channel levels to see if they're abnormally low. If you don't already have one, you may want to purchase a Radio Shack SPL meter to help calibrate the speaker levels. Which center?

thanks for the response.

All my channel levels are actually set to 0.0 I never had to use them before. I guess I can tweak them or buy the meter to figure out the best. It is a large room but the distance between the speakers and the viewing area is very small (its a long room, but not wide and we are right across from the HT).

I purchased the Def Tech Procenter 1000. It was an open box item at Best Buy, I'm hoping its not defective!

How do you mean? Are you getting any sound out of the center? Have you told the receiver that a center is available? To make sure the center works, you could hook it up to either R/L speaker output.

The larger room will make a sound volume difference. This is measured by Sound Pressure Level (SPL). As the room size increases, it will require more sound output to maintain the same SPL.

If you have the set-up microphone for the 2807 I would suggest using it to run through the automated setup, which will automatically detect your speakers and set speaker levels to match your room.

thanks for all the tips! I'm actually starting to get concerned that the receiver was damaged in the move. I still have to turn the volume up very high even after running the automated setup. Also, once i reach a certain level, the receiver shuts down and I have to restart it. Blah!

What were the channel levels after auto-setup? I suggest a microprocessor reset, pg 42, and start from scratch. See if this helps.
