I recently added an amp for my zone 2 and everything seems ok exept when I select dvd as the source I get no sound. The radio works, my PS2 works, just nothing from the dvd. I use the dvd player as a cd player, so it would be nice if I can get it to work.

I looked through the manual, but didnt' see anything. Is my reciever busted?

Connections are both optical and 5.1 via rca. The dvd player is a Pioneer dv-578a. I have a 7.1 setup and use an external amp for zone 2.

Thanks

Jeff

I have an even funnier situation. I get audio when I play CDs on my DVD player. I only do not get any audio when I play DVDs. i have tried two DVD players.

Any ideas? What are the odds two disparate DVD players are both busted? Why would CDS play fine?
BTW, connecting the DVD player to my DVD using the red-white pair works fine.

Zone 2 audio

Jack,
Zone 2 on most receivers is only analog audio. If you want to use the DVD player to play CDs on zone 2, connect an analog RCA cable from the DVD to the receiver in addition to the existing Digital (coax or optical) cable which is necessary for Dolby 5.1 on zone 1.

I have the 6 RCA's for the individual speaker assignments hooked up. Do you mean I need the right/left stereo analog jacks connected in order for it to work? I'll pick up some more cables this weekend and see if that fixes it.

Thanks

Jeff

Just use two of the six rca's you already have.

Zone two or three will not pass digital sound, period. If you want to power 7 speakers in another zone, you will have to select the dsp modes in analog - ie. 7 channel stereo.

As Buckeye said, zone 2 will be stereo analog *only*. What you can do is connect the stereo analog outs from a particular device to a different input that is not being used (VCR, CDR, etc...), then run zone 2 with that as the source.

It works now, THANKS

I hooked up the right/left stereo analog connections and it is fine now. I would think the SACD analog connections would have been able to pass the signal, but that's ok, it's working now.

Thanks for the help guys
