Denon 2805 Dual Zone problem

I bought a Denon 2805 2 months ago. It's my first home theater system and I love it! I'm having a problem with the Zone 2 feature. I have the 5.1 setup in the family room, and 2 speakers in the living room (zone 2). I have a DVD/CD player connected to the Denon through Digital coax1, and my satellite box (TV) connected through optical 1. I also have an Ipod that I run with RCA plugs into the Denon's CD input. The Ipod runs fine through zone 2, but I can't get CD's or the TV to play through zone 2.(I listen to Sirius through the TV box). Any suggestions? I'm thinking it might have something to do with digital inputs Vs. the RCA plugs? Any help appreciated!

Unfortunately you cannot distribute a digital signal to the other zones. An easy fix is to add analog cables from your DVD/Sat boxes to the receiver using the same inputs. I have the 3805 and am using both digital and analog inputs with no problems. Your iPod has an analog input and that's why you can hear it. It's a bit of a hassle but it works. Most receivers have this same issue, it's not unique to Denon.

I hope that helps.

Thanks! That did help. I ran a set of RCA plugs from the Satellite box through the Denon, and now have music in Zone 2. Thanks for the speedy response.

That is standard for zone 2/3 on all receivers that I have seen. My RX-Z1 has the same issue. Of course, my second zone isn't setup to sound as good as the main zone so it really doesn't bug me at all. Just a few extra connections and everything sounds great.

Glad you were able to get things resolved so quickly.
