Denon 2310 Help Please

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I installed a Denon 2310 receiver to run the audio for the 65" Samsung display. Everything was operating fine until recently.

When I turn on the display to watch digital cable, the TV picture & audio will freeze (the Denon display keeps searching and running through menu items). Prior to this, Sat/Cable/TV was displayed when watching cable television.

Note: I can watch a dvd/blu ray without any problems. Everything is fed to the receiver first and then hdmi to the display.

Is this a configuration issue or a problem with the Denon? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

It sounds like a possible HDMI handshake issue. First thing I'd try is reseating the HDMI connections between the STB and receiver. If that doesn't work, then try a microprocessor reset on the receiver, pg. 70.

Thanks AV Rat for the quick reply. I'll check the hdmi connections and if necessary, the reset - unless anyone else has experienced this problem and has any other solutions/ideas.

Are you trying to mix HDMI and component signals, or did you set the Denon SAT/CBL for HDMI and then either Coax or Opt in the audio line? Make sure you got the inputs right when you did that- it's possible to set the audio for a different input when you want to set it for SAT/CBL (or another one).

Also, if the air is dry where you are, make sure to avoid static electricity discharges. If you need to control any of the equipment, use a remote. Microprocessors don't live long when static discharges occur.

Thanks Highfigh for the post. I discovered this afternoon that the cable box was the culprit. A hard reset on the box and everything is working fine. All is well and just in time for the playoffs tomorrow.
