Denon 1920 vs. Oppo dv970

i was about to buy the denon 1920 dvd sacd dvda player when i saw this new oppo...how does it compare in quality (sound and video)to the denon if there is not that much i think i will have to go with the oppo for $200 cheaper..any input would be helpful thanks!

IMO, the Oppo 971 (not the new 970) is a happy medium.

i think for the price its great but how does it stack up to the denon in performance

I pulled up the benchmark results on a different site and the Oppo (Oppo Benchmark using DVI output) scored higher than the Denon 5910. When testing the DVI output in Video 2 mode it was nearly flawless on the benchmark tests. Hows that for a curve ball.

Cant comment on the comparison, but the same website has many DVD player reviews. Maybe there you will find the info you are looking for.

Dennon and Oppo

The Oppo 970 or 971 might match the Denon in video quality, but the denon will have better analog audio outputs and bass management for DVD-A and SACD. If you only plan to watch DVDs, then save money and go with the oppo.

Good points. Get the Oppo or Panny S97 etc, only if you intend to use the digital connections for audio and video.
