This may reveal my ignorance but what is SACD or DVD-Audio versus just putting in a DVD movie? That is really what I am going to use this for. If movies are my intent does the step up to the 2910 make a difference?
Ignorance can countered by education: Stupidity can't be countered at all

!
SACD (SuperAudio Compact Disc) and DVD-A (audio) are two different ways of recording and playing back 5.1 channel music: in most cases these formats require 6 cables running from the back of the player to the receiver, although some source/reccy combos can use a single digital cable (like Denon 3rd link, or some of the IEEE1394 equiped stuff). Most DVD players will play DVD-A discs, but unless they're equipped w/ the analog out ports what you're getting is your player's interpretation of Dolby Digital. All of this is moot if you only intend to watch movies or listen to Redbook CDs with your player: if thats what you want it for, get the 1910-it's a good deal, and has HDMI and DVI-D outputs for your HDTV.
If on the other hand you enjoy 5.1 music like the DVD-A of Hotel California, or the SACD version of Dark Side of the Moon you'll need to get the 2910.
Bryan...the 1910 gives good picture w/ an HDTV using the DVI-D, by golly...
