Denon 1712 Receiver 7.1 question to front 3 speakers

I just purchased a pair of the Pioneer SP-FS52's Thursday at Best Buy due to reading good things about them on this forum. I have yet to hook them to anything and try them. The store demo setup was so bad, I couldn't tell anything about them, so I just bought them as I have 30 days to make up my mind.

It's been 15+ years since I bought a new receiver so I'm wondering if the Denon 1712 refurb can be used with the FS52's and a not yet purchased SP-C22 center as a 3-channel setup (The question is there a setting for this on the menu?) until funds are available to finish up with rears and a sub for 5.1 speaker set to be used in a bedroom. I know this Denon is a 7.1 but I don't have to use it as a 7.1 or do I?

Thanks for any insight on this, as I'm not up to speed on this new stuff. Up until last week I still had a CRT TV.

The Denon 1712 can work for you, it can handle 2.0, 3.0 and more.
The Denon has options for this, and also Audyssey for those who
desire to use that option.

Like Zeglij said it will work for you. Most Receivers will ask you if your using a sub, rears, or center channel. This will happen in the set up menu.

Enjoy your new toys.

Be sure to check out the clearance/open box section (you can browse these online, and then call to make sure they have them in stock). I just picked up a clearance Denon 1712 for $190 at BB.

I called ahead and they said their computer shows it was in stock, but that the "guys in the back" couldn't find it. I was out shopping anyhow, so I took a shot and went to the store to look for it myself. Sure enough, it was there with the rest of the clearance / open box stuff... but didn't have any kind of sign that it was for sale (the rest all had big red and white signs with the "CLEARANCE" clearly marked and the details of the item posted). These items have the same 30-day return policy and regular warranty... if you're on a budget like me, this seems like *the* way to go.
