Hello All

Wanted your guys opinion.

A Best Buy near me has the Denon 1611 Universal Bluray Player for $249.99 and I think they do not have the remote.

I have been wanting to get a universal player so that I could get SACD and DVD-A.

What do you all think?

Is it worth it or should I stay away from it?

I know this player has had some issues right?

Let me know what you all think, thanks.

I think you would be better off with this one. It comes with a manufacturer's guarantee AND a remote, which you know you will need.

Yes, it's a reputable company. Many of us have used them with excellent results.

You DO know that it mixes down multi-channels SACD to two channels, don't you?

Unless you already have a collection of DVD-A and SACD discs, I can't really see buying a player just for that capability now. At $249, the discs will end up costing you far more than the player if you want the most commonly sought after discs.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I am also glad you brought up the comment down mixing, as I had some questions regarding the audio.

First let me tell you about my setup.

This Player would be hooked up to 2 Receivers.

First receiver is a Yamaha Aventage rx1000 which is mostly for movies, therefore it would use the HDMI connection.

The 2nd receiver is a Denon AVR 5700, which is just for music. I would connect the player through the 2 channel audio out.

Sometimes I might want to listen to a Mutli Channel SACD through yamaha, but other times I might want to listen to strictly 2 channel analog audio through the Denon.

I know it sounds like a crazy, but this is how I want to use it.

So would I be able to use it in the way I want?

Thanks

I'm not sure.

You might want to check the manual at the denon site to see if it plays multi-channel SACD through HDMI. I wouldn't take it on faith.

I have no doubt that the two-channel audio outs will do what you want, though.
