denon 1513

hi just brought a denon 1513 amp the only surround function i can get to work is the multi channel stereo all the other surround options wont work the speakers sound like they are under water hardly any sound any ideas thanks

Using what as a source? Have you run Audessey?

*Edit I checked and it does not have Audessey. You will have to calibrate manually as far as I can tell.
