I own a Pioneer DV-563A and am considering purchasing a Dennon 3910 Unniversal DVD player. Can anyone tell me that the audio quality is much better on the Dennon? I have read many reviews of both players. When Regular CD's are played on the Dennon will it sound much better than the Pioneer? The sound for SACD's and DVD-A's on the Pionner are very good. I'm looking for improvement in sound for regular CD's while adding HD-CD capability.

I've owned both those players, as well as a Pioneer DV45A in the middle. I am usnig the 3910 right now. The 3910 retailed for ten times what your pioneer did. It is the classic case of the law of diminishing returns.......The 3910 did not perform ten times better than the Pioneer. It didn't even soudn twice as good. I "think" it sounded better when I put the 3910 in my system, but could I tell the diff in a blind test? To close to call. I will say that the 3910 is a feature rich, well built, piece of machinery. It trumps the Pio in that regard. I did see a good bit of diff in the video side...........The prices on used 3910's right now are amazing with all the hd people selling them off. I also think a 2910 would "sound" just as good. HTH. D2T

Pioneer DV 563A Vs Dennon 3910

Well I paid 150.00 for the Pioneer 2 years ago...and can purchase the Dennon 3910 for 425.00. Do regular CD's sound better on the Dennon? Also could get the Dennon 2910 for 425.00

One thing the 3910 can do better than the 563 is bass management and distance compensation on the 5.1 analog outs. It will also be more flexible in that regard.

Most of the lower end uni machines had various problems with BM that the 3910 avoids.

I don't seem to have any problem with bass management on the Pioneer.

Regular CD's sound good but not great. SACD and DVD-A's sound GREAT.

I've read different opinions on the Regular CD sound on the DV-563A Pioneer.

Might hold off till a BLURAY, DVD, SACD, DVD-A, Upconverter is developed and marketed.

I may be confusing the 563 with a different Pio uni player. I know that there was one that had a fixed crossover of 200 hertz (way too high for most users), but it has been a few years since I stayed current with all the uni player threads.

All those players, starting with the 45a which I still use for 2CH playback, made it possible for Outlaw to sell a whole lotta ICBMs.
