DefTech Cube I & Mythos One cross over setting

I am running a pair of DefTech Mythos Ones and a Super Cube I sub (sub arrives tomorrow). What should I set the LFE cutoff at? My options are 40/ 60 / 80 and higher. It's pretty obvious the Mythos One would be straining to ever reach the list 20 Hz but, the A/V receivers recommended setting of 80Hz (THX) seems a bit high. To that end I think 60Hz may be the way to go.. 40 dunno might be a tad low for the Mythos Ones. Thoughts?

i prefer 80hz myself ... so your mains will play less of the bass frequencies and concentrate on the mids

im with mike on this one with your speakers, also i doubt you will ever get near the 20hz spec;) The 80hz freq will allow all those 5 1/4 drivers to work well together

Ultimately you should let your room decide what frequency you should cross your mains over to the sub....

Using a SPL Meter from Radio Shack you can chart the output of your room with test tones with trying different crossover settings, 40, 60, 80hz...

Playing the test tones, chart the output with each individual tone.
Read Here... http://www.realtraps.com/test-cd.htm
Download and burn that CD.

You want to make a chart that looks like the one there, you will not really need to go much higher then 100hz to see your rooms response, and pick the crossover that is the smoothest graph plot.
If there are abnormal dips around the crossover freq. you may wish to use a different one.

I cross over at 80hz, because it provides me with the smoothest response in my room. Every room is different.

Good luck partner... OH and Welcome to Audioholics...
