I picked up this subwoofer definitive technology Powerfield 15 for $30 and it sounds really good but when I turn it on and no other power sources on it's a very very faint clicking and popping noise... is it a ground issue??? because the speaker sounds great when it's got something coming through it. I have an M&K V125 hooked to the out put and it plays perfect... any opinions on this???Any help would be much appreciated.

Doesn't sound like a grounding issue.
Does it still happen if you unplug any input cords?
You might try plugging it into another circuit and see if you get the same type of noise.
My first thought is you are picking up some sort of line noise via the AC line.

I don't think it happens when just plugged in and turned on as I remember... I'm out of town.. I think i did check that... I think it's just after I hook it up and then turn it on.

Usually it indicates amp failure is coming, but as KEW mentioned it's possible that it's being injected in. Switch power cord just to rule it out of the equation.

I had to have the amp replacement in a velodyne sub I had twice, both times it made the clicking sound prior to failure
