I'm low knowledge, but I'm interested in replacing my old BP8060ST's with the D17's (maybe BP9080X with matched center channel). I'm planning on purchasing the Marantz SR8015 AV receiver to power the D17's along with the it's matched center channel. my question is this. Will this receiver do the job? I ask this because I noticed on the Crutchfield website that it was noted that these speakers require lots of power. FYI, I also have 2 RYTHMIK 15" ported subs and yes I like to be entertained with bass.

The DT-D17's and the BP9080X are both efficient speakers to drive. 8ohm, 90+ sensitivity. The Marantz SR8015 will Absolutely be sufficient to drive them.

Two things

1) If I was buying a Marantz SR8015 receiver. I would purchase Floorstand speakers worthy of such a nice receiver.
2) Or if I purchased either one of those Def Tech speakers. I wouldn't waste my money on a receiver of the Marantz SR8015's caliber. The Marantz SR6015 at half the cost would work

The Demand series are very nice speakers by all accounts, and I think worthy of upgrading to. The BPs, not so much.
At that price point there are some other speakers I’d consider too. Some will recommend the new Polks, I like the JBL HDIs. Revel and Monitor Audio, too.
Anyway... if your heart is set on the D17, I’d say go for it. The Marantz (either one mentioned above) should work well. I think I would look at adding an amp for the front three just to make certain I have the headroom for dynamic peaks... but if you aren’t the kind that is hoping to hear Godzilla eating the world right next to you, then you may just be fine.
