I have not seen many people mention this stereo system and I am wondering what everyone's opinion is on this system. I heard it over the weekend and personally I was blown away by the accuracy of its reproduction.

If you do own this system, is the subwoofer really worth it, could I replace it with a cheaper model and do I even need one since the bookshelves can reproduce frequencies down into the 20s

Those are some very good little speakers. Even though they sell that as a system, you can actually purchase them separately to customize your system. There is no big cost savings for the system. You might try sending a private message (PM) to Khellandros66 who has a pair of the Studio Monitor 450s for his advice.
