Can anyone tell me if a Def Technologies Powerfield 15 inch sub is a good buy at 20 years old? Should I be looking elsewhere instead? Asking $125 on Craigslist.

A 20 year old subwoofer? I'd pass.

Do you have a budget in mind? How big is your room? With that info we might be able to point you in a better direction.

Thanks Steve. I am hesitant but yes, I am on a budget. Would love to get something for around $150-$175. I just recently purchased a seven year old Mirage sub for my lower level family room (15 x 25 with a tiled floor and carpet over it) and it just isn't enough. It was on craigslist for a hundred and I jumped on it. It was in great shape and for a smaller room this 8 inch sub might have worked.
I am looking to add more so when this 20 year old Def Tech Powerfield came up with a 15 inch woofer , I thought hmmm:rolleyes:. I have another room, a family room, that has a 17 year old Klipsch KSW 150?, a 10 inch downfiring sub, that works that room well. I am trying to get that sound downstairs. Should I be looking for a front fired unit versus down firing?
So the question is how old can I go on a sub in a 10-12 inch range for less than $200? Anyone else think that I should pass on a 20 year old Def Tech Powerfield 15 inch ?

If the one you already got isn't enough, chasing other cheap subs isn't going to do it for you. Save the funds up a little longer and get something that will.

A 20yr old sub isn't a good purchase even if it was a good sub.

Thanks Garcia, Steve. My inner self was saying don't get it also. I will be checking the Dayton to see if they might work for me.
