Def Tech speaker comparison...

I'm looking at two different lines of Def Tech speakers...the BP10B & the Mythos One. My system is a combined HT & 2 channel setup. My listening preference is around 60% HT, 40% 2 channel. I also have dual Velo SPL-1200R subs so I have ruled out the powered Mythos models...good idea or not (good for the budget though)? So far I've listened to the Mythos One at Magnolia Home Theatre in BB, but the they were on the main open floor, not an ideal location for auditioning. Still they sounded pretty impressive. They don't carry the BP10B there though. Does anyone have any experience with these models or Def Tech in general as an all around speaker for both HT & 2 channel they would like to share. Thanks.

If the majority of your listening is HT, then go with the BP-10s, the bi polar sound is great.

2nd GlocksRock recommendation! for Movies/TV/HT ; If you primarily listen to two channel stereo music then the Mythos One would normally be preferrred! However, if you can audition thane choose the sound and look that you like best.

Best of Luck!

Two years ago I owned two pair of BP10's (one 10 regular and one 10B) They ar just outstanding speakers and I have been kicking myself for selling them and my buddy who ought them refuses to sell em back to me. I sold them to afford a pair of brand new BP7001sc (bought pair for 1,600) and sold my two pair of BP10's for 800.00) Anyway I also have tested the Mythos ones and although nice speakers, they fail in comparison to the total sonic abilities of the BP10's (just my opinion mind you) I mentioned in the DefTech thread that 6ave.com currently has a sale going on with the Studio Monitor 450's that would compliment the BP10's perfectly for 250.00/pair in store or 299.00 if need to be shipped to you. Both have 6.5" mid range and 1" tweets but the 450's also have the 10" passive sub radiator. The BP10's have such a big enclosure that it gets down to 23Hz very easily without a sub. The mythos can't even nearly get that low. Check ebay or Audiogon for great prices on the 10's.
