Need Help, I am upgrading from my klipsch SF-3, and the SC 3 center channel, pretty old speakers that I had for a while, I just recently acquired a new TV, so I wanted to upgrade my sound as well, I Listened to the Def Tech Bp series and they sounded pretty good, anybody has any experience on these sets. TIA

I have the 7004, I love them! Clear highs, strong mids and deep bass. I still use a separate sup for the LFE bass in movies though. You will love them.

I have 7002's in my game room that used to be my mains in my current HT. They absolutely rock. You will be extremely happy with the 7004's or 7006's -- they are extremely well built outstanding performing speakers that I believe give you a lot of bang for the buck. Care must be taken in placement of bipolar speakers to get the best performance. If you need to look at a chart showing the differences in drivers/subs in the 7002/7004/7006 line go to: http://www.definitivetech.com/specs/specs.html

thank you for your input, do you think these would sound better than the new klipsch F3 I am upgrading from the old Klipsch SF3, and I am really considering the 7006 and even the 7004. my room is not that big. so I don't know if the 7004 would be over kill, I am also considering getting a separate sub for them.

I have not heard the klipsch model you are talking about. I have had dt powered towers for over 6 years and like them a lot. As someone else said they are a little trickey to place but sound very good. I use an svs sub as I find the low end on the dt's not low enough. Bottom line; get what sounds best to you.

what do you mean by hard to place, and I thought if I buy the ones that have the self powered sub, I wouldn't have to buy a separate sub, how should I place the speakers if I buy them.

I just got BP7006's and they are unbelivable. The mids, the lows, but whats amazing is how effortless the sound is. Its not taxing to sit for hours on end to these speakers. The soundstage is immersive. Truly amazing sound for the money.

I just got the 7004's and I have to agree they are perfect, I am still working with the set up, but they sound much cleaner than my old Klipsch SF-3, I went ahead and upgraded my center channel while I was at it, I got the CLR 2002, all I can say is wow, this sounds very good.

Help is always Helpful, ya know when you need good helpful help :D

Just messing wit ya.

Glad to see you are happy. For the size of my room the 7004s would be negative gain over the 7006's and the 7002's or larger would be suicidal. 7006's are perfect I am so excited to see so much Definitive activity, I have been waiting for the day...

I think I will start a Definitive Owners Thread.

LOL, I now need to buy a new receiver, I really don't care for any with HDMI as my Pioneer has 2 HDMI inputs, so I really don't know what to get.

I can highly recommend Yamaha, it seems that Definitive and Yamaha go hand in hand. Denon being my close 2nd choice/recommendation.

how is the HTR-5990? or the pioneer 9300TX or something like that, are you using a separate sub with your BP7006's?

Welcome to the family. What i meant was placing them near rear walls. The bi polar sound needs some space from the rear walls to sound right. I have had mine bi wired (not amped) and tried running a seperate rca feed to the lfe. Found good ol 12 ga single run to work best. I second the yami recomendation. Denon, pioneer elite, onkyo and marantz are good too.

I'd stick with Yamaha over Pioneer - the Demo's I've heard with Pioneer Elites were a little harsh - but it's all in the setup. If you're considering the 5990, check out the RXV series - 1600 and 2600, or even save a few $$ and get the 1500/2500. The 5990's twin is the RXV1600. The 5990 is sold in big box stores like Best Buy, while the 1600/2600 are sold in high end shops. I think street pricing is better on the RXV units for some reason. Both the 1600 and 5990 are rated at 120x7 rms at .04% THD at 20-20,000Hz. The 1600 is a bit heavier.

The Marantz SR7500 or SR8500 may be a perfect match if you can demo/budget one.

The RX-V1600 is three generations newer then what I have (RX-V1300) and would be my first recommendation.

my only problem is that I work at best buy, and I would be getting the 5990 for a very good price ($600), we don't have the other series the RXV. is it still good.

Go for it then cause you won't find that good of a price on any of the RX-V series and considering spec wise the 5990 and 1600 are identical you can't go wrong.
