Hello... I own a pair of def tech bp20. I can basically trade for the bp2006 for almost an even trade. Is this a sideways upgrade?
Also, i own a pretty decent sub so bass really is not a major factor.
Inputs from people that have owned both would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If bass is not a factor, then it would be an even trade IMO.

Otherwise, the BP7006 would have the bass advantage due to the active built-in sub.

I used to own the 7001 & 7000 and I thought they sounded great. But in terms of midrange and treble, I didn't think they were significantly better than any of the 7000-series. The major difference is in the bass. If you unplugged the built-in subs, they would sound very similar.

I thought the 7001 and especially the 7000 sounded great without additional subwoofers if that is your goal.

BP2006 has the smaller 4 and 1/2 inch drivers. I wouldn't trade them for the BP20s.
Early in this hobby, I had the BP30s and later bought a pair of BP2006 but I sold them after two weeks. BP30s with a sub gave me a much better sound.

Thanks guys. Thats exacty what i was worried about, going from 6.5 to 4.5 ,and not really needing the extra low end from the built in subs.
Ill keep the bp20 as my fronts until i do a complete overhaul of my system

I've got BP2000's, 20's and 10's and the above info is absolutely correct, as far as DefTech's go, the 6.5" drivers are optimum for HT, even without a sub I wouldn't make that trade.
Remember the BP20'S are basically 2000's without the powered woofers, and anyone who knows DefTech, knows how good those are as far as overall sound quality.
