Decisions decisions...

Hi there. I'm trying to decide on what the best setup for my TV room would be. Its not very big; it measures 15 feet long x 12 feet wide. Should I invest in a 5.1 system, I had the Yamaha YHT 5920UBL in mind, or should I invest in a good quality soundbar given the space limitation? I was thinking about the Samsung HW H450 2.1 Soundbar. I'll be hooking up to a Samsung UNF55F7500 3D LED TV. I also have an Xbox One and Samsung Blu-ray player. Budget is $600.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

My approach would be a bit different. I would spend $200 on an AV receiver, $200 on a pair of bookshelf speakers and $200 on a subwoofer. That would get you started. You could expand to 5 channels later on. The soundbars are a serious compromise compared to what I suggest and they wouldn't provide an upgrade path without first doing what I suggest.

Agreed, avoid soundbars at all costs, especially if you have any intent on adding surround sound, they are NOT compatible.
