SVS pb-2000. It should arrive tomorrow. So excited. WIll continue to use my jbl also in my 5.2 system until I can afford another. Thank you all that commented in my other thread. Decided on the svs over hsu bc it could go just a tad lower. Hsu was bigger, but similar weight. Anyway, I'll report back after hooked up.

To paraphrase a popular saying: No one got fired for buying SVS :)
There's no ceiling on how much to spend on speaker, but comparing pb2000 to hsu vtf2 is a bit stretching it. You won't be disappointed with it, but if I were you - I'd go with less than $100 extra VFT-3mk5 - it's in a whole different league of performance, but my then again I got open family room on the larger size and have 10ft ceilings.

The Hsu goes lower. It looks to have a lower response knee, and also more output at that point. It also has a huge output difference above 40 Hz; twice the output.

I was looking at these 2 as well and ended up with PB-2000, in my case the HSU cost a lot more due to tax + shipping + extra warranty, vs outlet sale on Svs so it helped me decide.

I'm pretty sure the VTF-3 is a different class of sub, you can't really compare the 2.

Hooked it up after work today. I got an outlet model also. Popped in Day of Days on 1st disc of band of brothers. You know the scene where they are flying over Normandy...wow! Very impressed. What a difference.

Can you tell me which AVR you have, the sub level in it, and how much you had to turn the gain up on the sub? I had to turn mine up to 3pm on the sub with level set to 0 in the receiver.
