Decent Subwoofer to fill 5500 cubic feet?

I'm looking for a decently-priced subwoofer to use in my basement. The space is about 5560 cubic feet. The listening area itself is about 12.5 ft x 22 ft x 7.5 ft, but the whole room is open. The problem is I need to keep the price around or preferably under $800. I asked someone from SVS and someone from eD what they would do. I didn't give either of them a specific budget, just said I couldn't spend alot. The guy from SVS told me the PB12-Plus/2 would work fantastically. The guy from eD said the A7S-450 with the 1300W amp would do well. I'm not sure about the A7S-450 because it's sealed I'm afraid it won't fill the room. I know the PB12-Plus/2 is alot higher than my budget.

I was thinking about the A5-350 from eD or maybe the HSU 3.3 without the turbo. Does anyone have an opinion? I know 5500 cubic feet is alot for such a low budget, but does anyone think the HSU 3.3, eD A5-350, or eD A7S-450 would work well for me? I need to know kind of quickly because the eD subs go up in price tomorrow. Thanks!

I'll be using this mostly for movies, but for some music as well.

Only $300 higher, and worth every penny. :D

I'm in a similar situation (about 5000 cu ft) and SVS recommended the same thing to me. I don't live in the US, but if you do, they are blowing them out right now as that model is being discontinued. The problem for me is the size as that particular sub is massive.

I'd be interested in whether anyone has other thoughts as to what would work for this sized room.

deedubb, you're going to need quality sub(s) to compliment your DT 7001s. The ed A5-350s are getting good reviews from individuals and may be worth the cost into Canada. Although for the size of your room, I'd want two in the end.

If you can afford it, go for the Def Tech Trinity sub. Otherwise, you may want to consider building your own sub if you can handle it, you can get so much more for your money.

Thanks. I just had a look at their website and the sub appears to be a lot of bang for the buck. They ship UPS who are well known for raping people with their brokerage fees. You're right that in the end, I'll likely go with 2 subs. I'm thinking SVS cylinders at the moment because of the small(ish) footprint.

BTW, almost scary that you knew what I own and where I live. Are you stalking me  :)

Thanks. I don't think I want to build my own. I'll have a look at the Trinity.

Save a wee bit more money and go for the PB-13 Ultra :D

No, I'm not stalking you.:rolleyes: I usually research unfamiliar member's previous posts for background to help formulate my responses to their inquiry.

A couple of the SVS 20-39 PC+s would be excellent.

How do you get 5500 cu ft? 12.5 x 22 x 7.5 = 2062.5 cubic feet. I have a HSU 2,3 and it fills the room nicely and well under your $800 limit.

5500 cubic feet is approximately the whole basement. The Home Theater area is smaller than that, but the whole basement is open so you have to include it. I ended up buying the eD A5-350. Thanks for the advice guys. The only problem I have with my decision is the 6-8 weeks I'll have to wait for it to ship. I ordered the rest of my system less than a week ago and it's all in my home now except for the sub. I hope it'll be worth the wait :(
