Debating between REL and Sunfire...or more

I currently own Quad 12L bookshelves, but will move those to the rear and get the 22L floorstandings when money allows, but for a subwoofer I am torn between two brands. My father has a REL subwoofer Q 201 and I love it. It is clean, and their sub-bass system is really great for two channel. But I know sunfire has more power and can reach lower frequencies. Both have low distortion levels. I was curious on anyone's opinion as to which would be a better choice, for around $1000. If there are any other brands to look at, please let me know.

Best Bass for the Buck

Both HSU and SVS manufacture a few models of high performance subwoofers at or bellow your price range. Also, take a look at reviews on this site of the Axiom EP-500.
At the 1K price range, I think that the products from any of these three companies will outperform the models you models you listed. There direct sales structure allows them to build a better product for the money.

As far as music goes, Hsu would be better. If you don't have a huge room, or the need for mega low bass, check out an STF-1. If you need more power and lows, just move up the line until you find something that fits.

I love my REL 150E, especially for music. The big plus of the REL is that you can set it up seperately for music and HT.
