Patience is a virtue.

I have been patiently awaiting some good deals on the three final upgrades I wished to purchase for my home theatre system: A new receiver, center channel, and subwoofer. For the past 4 months, I have been scrutinizing reviews, forums, and home theatre hardware stores awaiting a deal on one of any of the three components mentioned above. Like a midget at a restroom stall, I have kept myself on my toes. However, my patience wore thin yesterday and I finally found my equipment. While perusing my typical websites at the end of the work day yesterday, I found some drastically reduced prices on equipment that I have been researching. Outlined below:

1. Boston Acoustics AVR7120 Receiver - List $2999 - dropped to $999
Purchased: $443.00

2. Velodyne SPL1200 Subwoofer - List: $1499 Purchased: $440

3. Polk LSiC Center Channel - List: $599 Purchased: $238.97

Total List Price: $5087.00 Total Purchase Price: $1121.00 (plus Ship)

Needless to say I am as excited as a little girl on Christmas Eve. Still I am curious to what you all think. Deal or No deal?

If you've researched the equipment, and that's what you want, why not? But have you heard the LSiC, do you like it's sound, and how does it match up to your mains?

Just by looking at the prices I can tell you that is a good deal. SPL1200 for 400 bucks!

John D,

No I do not have Polk LSi series tower speakers, but this was the closest timber matching I could find to my old school metal dome Sony Towers. I know Sony towers are not revered by most audio enthusiasts; however, they really do sound great for what I paid for them four years ago. I know in the future I will need to upgrade, but I figured I could build around the Polk Center if necessary in the future. To be honest, for the time being I was trying to make these purchases to hold me over until new HDMI technology will require a large scale upgrade in my home theater equipment. I

I am a little concerned about your response though. Is there a specific reason you asked if I have heard the LSiC center?

Thanks for the response.

Those products arent what I would've picked, but if you are happy with them, then great.
Prices are OK for those products.

No...but you pretty much hit it on the head (half of it, anyway)...timbre matching. The other half is if you personally like the sound after an audition. Cheers.

Many appreciate the Polk LSis...and most put separate amps on them. They are 4 ohm speakers and need the juice. No criticism, I'd love to have a pair of 15s, C and 7s, with ~ 250 wpc going to each. You either lucked out on your purchases or you are a skilled negotiator. Great deals.
