Last night I was watching a DVD and noticed that my system sounded different. I was correct. My front left speaker is not working. I hooked up one of my Titans from down stairs and it did not work as well. This makes me think it is my Denon 1804 receiver. I checked the connections and they are secure. I did not have time to check all the internal amp setups (dsp's, tonal controls, etc) but I am not aware of any that would allow me to turn off a single speaker.

Is it possible for only one channel of my amp to burn up? I've never had a receiver problem before.

Any advice?

One Dead Channel

Yes, it is very possible to have one channel go bad in a receiver. This almost always means the repair shop. If your receiver is not too expensive or is older, it is probably wiser to just buy a new receiver, unless it is covered by warranty of course.

similar problem

A front effect speaker stopped operating. Checked everything I could think of while still powered up. Powered down in hope of a automatic reset. Powered up and the front effect speaker was again operational. From dismal thoughts to happy days. Good luck!

Simple answer

I went to the troubleshooting guide in the manual, which didn't provide a whole lot, and it said to check the connections. I checked them for the third time. This time I pulled off the banana plugs and retightened them. Viola! The speaker works again. What a relief. The Return of the King just wouldn't have been the same.

Thanks for the suggestions.
