i can't get my DCX 2496 to output to my amps ...

i'm using an RCA to XLR to the DCX, XLR to XLR to the amps.

i notice that the DCX has an incoming signal by looking at the one illuminated clip light when outputting to each of the L, C and R receiver test tones.

i know the receiver is fine because the DCX is receiving.

i know the amps are fine because i connected directly to the amps, and the amps output the receiver test tones.

i know the XLR to XLR cables are fine because i used the RCA to XLR to connect directly to the XLR to XLR cables, and the amps output the receiver test tones.

so it's basically a DCX setup problem ... i've set it up to output LH LH LH

help! what have I overlooked? or what didn't I do right?

Is there anyway you could provide the DCX file you have uploaded to the unit? This would make trouble shooting far easier, especially if there is a routing problem. Also, have you checked the connections? You might have plugged the cables into the wrong spots in the output area of the unit.

i didn't upload anything, can't i just use the front panel setup? i only need simple crossover duties, opted for the 2496 because it was more accurate than the analog crossovers)

i tried both L and H outputs.

and all 3 inputs are used and i tried to send a signal to all 3.

The front panel setup can be used. The DCX2496 does not come pre-configured so you will need to manually adjust these settings by using the setup button on the front panel. Such options should be under routing for each separate channel.

Currently, I am away from my DCX (and will be until Sunday), basically you need your input/output configuration to look like this:

Just make sure the input/output plugs are in the right spot and you shouldn't have any issues.

If this does not work what are you referring to by L and H outputs?

I recieved my DCX for my sub's yesterday. The manual is as thick as a small phone book! I think its much easier to setup via the software than it is from doing it through the front panel just judging by what I saw so far.

actually, only the french manual is thick ... the english manual is actually very short. :D perhaps it takes twice as many words for the french to understand :)

LH LH LH is one of the options for example A=LH B=LH C=LH as opposed to A=LMH B=LMH

LH LH LH - output 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in that order - if i understand correctly.

i'll try to setup using the software, but ill have to pull out the unit from the HT and bring it to my PC ... but i only have a USB to serial ... ill check if that works.

Can you take a picture of the settings you have on the DCX and post it? That would help give an idea of what is going on...

it was pretty hard to take pics of the LCD screen ...

anyway, i brought the DCX to my PC, updated it ... returned it to the HT, still no output.

i messed with the gain output on the DCX, out came the sound. i figured i didn't want a gain on the DCX, i brought it back down, and the output didn't go back down.

it's fine now. :D

hmmm, i swear electronics hate me.

Been playing with my DCX for a few hours now, This thing is pretty cool! :D Just got some crap speakers hooked up playing with the crossover and different settings in real time while I listen to the music. I dont have the cable needed to connect it up to my computer so i had to read through the manual how to use it, Its really pretty simple to program and change things once you know what it is your looking at, and how the menus correspond with the buttons.

I can see already that this is so much more flexible for subwoofers than a plate amp could ever dream of being. Or for controlling your entire system for that matter.

i agree. if you get a USB to RS232 adapter, it will make your life a lot easier creating different "setups" to try one after the other.

as for me, i only needed it to split the L C R to lows and highs :)

Can you link the brand of USB to Serial cable you used for your DCX to PC connections. I am having trouble finding one that people say works consistently. I would rather just get one that everyone else has used and know works
