DCM Time FRame TF 10.0 worth anyting or get rid of?

long story short I got these from a girl who got them from her dad. I guess he died.

I have barely used them and wonder if they are worth keeping for what I need. I have another pair of "cheap" dcm speakers already and I really only need 2 speakers for my music listening so I am thinking about selling these or upgrading the drivers if possible.

I dont have much info other than the users manual I just found...all 2 pages


info ...advice ....they are like new and 100 intact....#542 on one of them ..the other doesnt have a sticker.

anyone? I need to know if these are upgradeable..its hard to tell since they are fully covered and I cant see whats inside unless I remove the material..then I dont know if I can make them look right and re attach the cover

Patience grasshopper I'm sure someone will be along. DCM products have quite a following but it will take time for somebody with some experience with them to find the thread. Especially with the 3 day weekend. Have patience.

I know...just anxious to see what is said about them.....I want to see inside but I am hoping someone else will have pics as I have no idea what the cabinet looks like under the cover....they are tall and heavy as hell...

time frames

Chances are that the vintage time frames are better speakers than the newer dcm's. Check for foam rot and if it has any, look to a refoaming kit.

I cant see anything without taking off the out foam material that covers the speaker and I havnt tried to remove it cause not sure I will be able to put it back on and look correct.

I am just wondering what I can do to make them better (updated woofers ) or if I should find them a new home and get something else ...and get rid of the cheap other set of dcm speakers I have which were not special

You can't just change drivers in a speaker without changing the crossover too. The timeframe was a good speaker, what don't you like about it? Just because it is not new doesn't mean that new speakers are better.

it might not be easy but its not impossible to change the driver...or at least not in the car audio world...i mean that driver in that speaker cant be the only one ever made that has the specs it has...

I figure that the drivers of 2010 have to be improved over the ones from say 1985 1990 or 1995 etc

i have nothing against the speakers they just lack low end...

I say this without having laid eyes on the drivers in these speakers
