Hi everyone,

On the back of my receiver there's a DC Out (12V DC / 120mA). Is the 12V always present whenever the receiver is on?

The owners manual doesn't help much and I tried searching but "DC" in the search returns everything but. It's a new receiver so I don't want to go sticking probes inside to measure and smoke something.

I'm trying to setup an external cooling fan that will rest on top of the receiver. I purchased a 5V DC cooling fan that plugs to the electrical wall outlet. But later realized I only need the fan powered on when the receiver is on.

I found this device below that may work but I'm trying to research further what Control In and Out means.

I personally user Master/Slave power strip for my fan and subs. AVR on master and rest on slave.

Thanks, I never knew such power strip existed. After doing some research, it's just what I need. I will check my power strip when I get home it may have that feature I know it has some other options I never use.

The 12v trigger is on only when the receiver is on. It's typically very low power, and most often is used to act as the trigger for an external amplifier. Perhaps lower a screen for a front projection setup with a motorized screen.

You could power a 12v fan I'm sure if the draw is low enough. Which is an issue, since most draw is closer to 300mA+.

Yes, that Niles unit would work fine.
