DBP-4010UDCI DVD+R DL Question

I have a DENON DBP-4010UDCI player that was purchased as a refurb unit from DENON. When I received the unit a few years ago, it would play DVD-R discs but not DVD+R and no DL discs. It also had problems with CD-Rs. But it played commercial discs great.

After a while I took the air gun to the lasers and cleaned them with air. That caused DVD+R discs to work as well as DVD-R DL.

This weekend I took the cover off the player and the drive unit. I cleaned the lasers with isopropyl alcohol, cotton swabs and a microfiber cloth as well as an air gun. That got CD-R discs to work consistently.

My question is does anyone know if DVD+R DL discs really work with this unit? I've tried a few and the player seems to pick-up the second layer (layer 1) OK but can't "see" layer 0. It's as if the programming is not even looking for layer 0.

Has anyone had success with a DVD+R DL disc on a DBP-4010CI? I'd like to use DVD+R DL discs since I can set the layer change point.

BTW, if this should have been in another thread, please let me know. I couldn't find a general DBP-4010UDCI thread in this section (just a "first looks" one).
