Dayton RS28A tweeter mtm non Dayton RS Center Channel

I've got a Dayton RS28A tweeter that I had in the CJD MTM. One of the woofers got a piece of dust or something down in the voice coil and broke the driver so my center channel is now sitting out in the garage unassembled. To the Dayton RS defense, the driver that broke was out in my garage unprotected for about 8 months :)

Are there any MTM designs out there that use the RS28A for a tweeter but use different drivers than the RS150s-8? I would just order the RS150-8 but they are always out of stock. If I don't find an acceptable alternative then I will wait till the RS150-8 is in stock and order a pair of those (and some slight xover changes).

The center channel goes in wall and has to be within the dimensions of 7.5" tall x 21.5" wide x 13" deep.

I can build xovers, and documented designs. I am not a designer though or I'd find an acceptable alternative myself.

For those of you that read multiple forums this post is also on the techtalk at partsexpress and hometheatershack forums.

You may have a long wait. Rumor is the RS line is due for a refresh.

With RS supply being on the frits I have the following plan.

I think I'm going to ebay the tweeter and my one, still good RS150S-8 and buy a new center channel kit. That being said, a little research has brought two builds to my attention.

Aviatrix

I would split this build with my bro and we'd both end up using them as centers.

or the Zaph Audio ZA5.3c

I'm not concerned about the cost difference, what I'm interested in will be clear dialogue, good HT sound when crossed with subs, SPL, and low distortion characteristics.

My experience with any of the above mentioned kits is zero, but I have used the CJD MTM RS150/RS28a as a center and also the huge RS225/RS150/RS28A three way, both of which were great center channels IMO.

I'd like to walk away with at least as good of performance as the CJD MTM or I will be looking elsewhere for a center channel build.

Any one out there with experience on either of these builds or drivers I'd appreciate your comments.

I got an email this morning that the RS150-8 is back in stock, given my box is already made for those to drop in and the crossover mod to pad the tweeter down is simple I'm going with that.

From what I can gather about the Zaph drivers, I may be doing a project with those down the road. Part of me wants to build that center anyways, but replacing the RS150 drivers is less expensive and will be easier...
