well guys, my extra amp decided to take a crap on me....after many years of good service... I was just going to wait till the Dayton 240's went on sale for $99.99 but noticed that this went on sale today

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-750

for about the same price.... is their Bash amp ok in terms of reliability or should I wait for the Dayton 240's to go on sale like they normally do?

I thought I'd heard a while back that the Bash's that PE sold were actually a bit inferior in build quality to their Dayton amps but I can't remember WHERE I heard that or if it's correct. (would rather wait and get the Dayton's or get something else if the build quality or longevity isn't as good)

I have used both PE and the BASH plate amps from PE with success. Both are fairly well built and provide good results from my experiences.

I think some of their older BASH amps had some issues, but the current versions are supposed to be pretty good. I would say no more or less reliable than the 240.

gotcha I hadn't seen any bad reviews per se, just more people asking the same question that I had lol... I just had a remembrance of a few years ago that some people were complaining of only 1 - 1.5 year of life out of them... but if they're as stable as the Daytons $109 after $5 off coupon at PE is pretty tempting to get my second THT up and running

well, too much time a wasting. grabbed the 300 watt Bash for $109 flat. hopefully will be here in less than a week knowing PE's fast shipping.

Can't speak from hands on experience, as I have used a few of the Dayton amps in projects but never a Bash, but the techies at PE told me they were pretty much equivalent build and quality wise, and reccomended to pick whatever fits the application best.

well, that's reassuring. mine came in from pe last week and I wired it up to my second THT which I picked up off of Matt34 (thanks again).... O....M.....G.... is all I can say... Two THT's together in a 1020 sq ft house is absolutely frightening.

A while back the BASH amps were having (I think) thermal heat issues causing them to fail, that has been fixed, the other thing was BASH was back ordered for a long time, several months... but that all seems to be resolved now.

yeah, that's what I remember hearing. thermal failure after about a year if I remember.... well, if they fixed them I'll be happy. I'm enjoying the crap out of it now
