Hi. I wasn't sure where to post this, but since I'm a beginner (but I was very into audio back in the early 2000s), I'll post here.
I've been considering getting a Hiby R5 Saber DAP with MASSDROP X SENNHEISER HD 6XX headphones. But I have a Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G on which I have all my music (FLAC, mostly) and the music app I like to use (Media Monkey 5). Also, I don't need a one-device portable system; I'll only be listening at home and just need to be able to move between two rooms. I'm wondering then if it's best to use my phone coupled with a DAC/AMP (or both).
Of course, that's assuming an external DAC/AMP will even work with my phone because it only has a USB C port.
My budget is about $500 (not including the cans). I listen mostly to all sorts rock, hard rock, metal, alternative and electronica ranging from the 60s to today.
