Damage to receiver?

Hey guys for some stupid reason I covered my receiver last night before I went to bed and woke up this morning and noticed that the unit was still on. Immediatly went and uncovered it and opened the windows to let some cool breeze flow through the house to cool it. The plastic cover was hot and and receiver even hotter, but doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the receiver. The receiver is a Yamaha RX-V1500. What could have happened to it or did happen to it that I havent noticed yet?

Thanks

Probably Ok

Hey Derek,

Since the unit was not having to produce output (sond) from it, it is probably fine. When you ask the receiver to produce sound then the components in the receiver will produce heat, due to the output. While it is not a good idea to cover it while it is on, (which I know you did not mean to do) since it was not producing sound it is probably fine. Most of the time if a receiver has a problem it is fairly easy to figure out. Just go through all of the paces through all of the sound fields, and with all of the components, if all works well you are probably fine.

No worries. It will shut down if it gets too hot. When it is not driving any speakers, it wont generate enough heat to damage anything.
