Hello,

Concerning SVS Ultra Tower VS JBL Studio L890

I've called SVS and have been told no stores here have them to listen to and I've been to Star Power, Best Buy, and Nebraska Furniture Mart. Does anyone know anywhere where I may be able to locate these things so I can audition them? Trying to avoid buying both/paying shipping on returning one just to find out if I like the highs. I'm planning on doing a 7.1.2. As for other options, I've already listened to a variety of Klipsch, Revel, and several others. I like the highs from the other JBL speakers I have heard more than anything else. My budget is an absolute max of 5500 for speakers (pre tax), not counting the sub.

As a second issue, I'm planning on getting a T18HT and am hoping its not going to drown everything else out. This is the first time in my life I've worked a stable career for a stable company so I'm building a house and splurging on myself while having absolutely no experience outside of the speakers in my truck to base anything off of.

I am not in a rush as the house won't be completed until March or April. Feel free to link me to other threads if you know of one that can help me or if I've posted in the wrong place.

Thanks in advance,

Sorry you don't live/play in Big Sky. We have a pair of ultras in the theater room here at the store. They are currently our Left and Right fronts. They are absolutely great. Cannot comment on how they sound in comparison to the JBLs. It's sad that most electronic stores no longer have comparison abilities.

A proper sub will never drown anything out. Should not be a problem from PSA. FYI, Tom at PSA was one of the founders of SVS.

Can't speak to the SVS Ultras. You could order a pair of the bookshelf speakers and that will give you the sonic signature of the line since they have the 45 day in home trial.

That's what I've debated on doing since their surround sound package deal doesn't include them. Mainly because the shipping will be a lot cheaper if I decide to return them. I'm really hoping to avoid that though. lol
