DACs Multidisk Players

Is it necessary to spend a lot on a multi-disk player, if you have one of the high end recievers with Burr Brown DACs?
Here's my reasoning as follows:

1. If you use Fiber Optic or Digital Co Ax connector from multi disk player to reciever the recievers DACs do the digital to analog conversion.
2. If you connected to the reciever through standard RCA cables then you would want the multi-disk player to have the high end Burr Brown DACs and thus probably pay more for the multi-disk player.

Cheers

Hi,
I Have a Denon 5800/03 which is the flagship from them. I use a discontinued Sony DVP-NC650V 5 disc discontinued sacd player and a 7 disc discontinued JVC FA92sl dvd-a player.

My music speakers are Totem Model 1 signatures in the front and Totem Model 1 bi-wireable but non sigs in the back.

I know that I have excellent DAC's in my reciever but I can't give you a scientific answer. All I can say is that (given that most people who have heard my system have never heard HIREZ music before) so far all comments regarding the sound have been more than flattering. Some people have said unbelievable.

From my perspective of the quality of what I hear I generally start from the music and work backwords.

I have Accuphase DP 70 CDP as well as Yamaha CDX-1050 CDP, both flagships in their days and till today, some recordings, especially classical, jazz and vocals sound excellent when compared to my very good quality Burr Brown in my Z-9.

Wish I could...

Hope you don't mind a few words from low end non Burr-Brown owner:

- Multiplayer DACs surely make a difference if you're into SACD 192/24 or 5.1, since you cannot send it as is through S/PDIF.

- I'd say my player's 192/24 DACs produce less of those hateful digital sawtooths comparing to my receiver's 96/24 DACs. Same price range, so I would say key issue here is bit rate.

Also - as you perhaps already know - high-resolution interconnects such as HDMI are on the way. I run on budget gadgets by now, saving it up for the day manufacturers clear up the hi-res mess. I believe it to be a mass market thang, because they're so propense to copy protect.

Cheers
FA
