I purchased this to go on a TV/VCR/DVD combo TV, but the directions say nothing about this type of set up. There is no website. Help, please.

Not sure what you are asking....

The schematic does not show how to hook in this system to a Combo set like ours. I have the speakers plugged in correctly but get nothing through them from the TV/VCR/DVD combo set. What needs to be done?

How do you have it connected? What type of inputs and outputs does the TV have, same for the Surround system?

The TV Combo has a Light and Right Audio. These wires we plugged into the Subwoofer Receiver into the Video in and out as described. There is no place to connect a coaxial wire from the video in the front or from the back of the set into the Receiver.Speakers are plugged in, but there is a whole set of places for wires to be hooked into the receiver lat is labeled like the speakers, but says DVD 5. 1 Channel input. We have nothing that plugs into these.

If you want it to work in surround sound you will likely need to get some type of Dolby Digital processor. The TV doesn't have a multi-channel out(5.1) of course, but I am sure that it has a digital output via Optical or Coax.

You could buy an outboard audio processor that they use for computer audio. That would be cheapest I think.

In your situation I would try using it as a stereo system for now using the L/R audio outs of the TV to connect to the sound system through one of it's inputs. Then I would start saving money for a more versatile sound system.

How long have you had the sound system? I don't mean to pry and feel free not to answer this question, but how much is the sound system, and is it possible to return it and save up more money for a more functional sound system?

curtis 5.l surround system HELP

Bought this silly thing to use as a temporary sound system with my old receiver. The receiver uses standard red/black input wires for each speaker. My question is if I cut off the jack on the Curtis left and right speakers can I use the wires to connect to them to the reciever? I have a cable box and dvd player and TV.
Thanks

More info is needed.

From both you guys descriptions im clueless as to what your asking as im sure most other guys reading this are,if you want help you need to be very specific as to every peice of gear that comes with this curtis system & you also need to be exact with the type of connections on the back of your tv set.

For instance,is there a reciever or some type of powered unit besides the speakers,is the subwoofer self amplified or passive.

It would be a huge help if one of you could scan the instalation sheet that came with the system & post it in this thread,im sure somebody can help but from the information given at this point im not even sure what gear you have or what you guys are trying to accomplish.

The TV has one set of audio and one video input.

For instance,is there a reciever or some type of powered unit besides the speakers,is the subwoofer self amplified or passive.

In my case I want to use my old Kensington receiver. However, the speakers with the Curtis set up all use jacks that plug into the subwoofer which in turn plugs into the wall.

It would be a huge help if one of you could scan the instalation sheet that came with the system & post it in this thread,im sure somebody can help but from the information given at this point im not even sure what gear you have or what you guys are trying to accomplish.

I have the scans of the instruction pages (almost funny) but am searching for the upload page on this forum.

Joan - not having any fun

you have to be a regestered member of the forum to post pictures (or scans), and as it says "Awaiting Registration Conf" under your name, I'm guessing you won't be able to yet. :(

I hate to be the cloud of doom but with the info given unless somebody here knows of this curtis system & you can scan the manual its going to be very hard to help you.

We still dont even know what all the components are in this curtis system nor do we know what type of connections it has,all this info makes a difference, when you say the curtis speakers all have plugs that go into the sub thats a start but you must realize that there are many different types of plugs & jacks, this info needs to be specific.

Also nobody ever said weather this curtis system comes with its own reciever or source, this info would be helpfull along with the other connection info to determine if you could possibly connect the curtis reciever or source directly to your current reciever.

Im sure there is a way to get the job done but this system is not well known & we have very little info at this point to go on.

If you provide a link to the setup, we can probably better help you.

Probably too late, but a Google "Results 1 - 10 of about 3,020,000 for Curtis Electronics. (0.18 seconds) "

Curtis Electronics are what you get at Walmart, Zellers etc for "ahem" affordable;) pricing.
