Anyuone ever hear of or have experience with:

Theater Research Hiend Towers

or

Fluance

These always seem to be available on ebay. Are these the proverbial "white van" speakers?

I've heard descent stuff about the Fluance. Looks to be good in its price class, compared to other mass market stuff.

Check Audio Review for some reviews.

Also you can buy direct from Fluance, in case your weary about Ebay or simply don't have an account (like me...).

Anyways I wouldn't expect the world, but they certainly have competitive prices.

< Hmm...this might be a good brand for Audioholics to try out ;) >

Heck it would almost be worth buying em for the cabinets, then swapping out the drivers... :D :D

Hey,

I saw those speakers on Ebay too. I've actually looked at the Fluance website and their stuff sure is cheap (inexpensive i mean). I just wonder about the quality of the parts their using at that price. You'd think just making decent cabinets would cost as much as they charge for the speakers. I really just wanted to add another company to the list to see if anybody has heard of them. Called Home Theater Direct, they're at www.htd.com. Look nice but I wanted to know if anybody's heard them.

white van

i have heard of theater research.. only online though. and they where white van specials. :( sorry. if you do a search for them you'll come upon some threads dedicated to weather theater research is a scam or not.. i chose to beleive they are a scam for the sole reason of them a) being sold out of a white van, but then there was also people asking the question of if they where good speakers or not... if they are truly good speakers there wont be people asking if they got ripped off.
