Ok i Want a plasma, but it seems that they are no good after 60,000 )the hitachi im looking at)

i hate the thought of being limited to a time amount, so im looking in to a CRT

now Hitachi sells a 51" CRT TV the only thing i dont want to happen is when u look at the TV from an angle, you cant see anything (rear projjection)
is that how the Hitachi 51"crt's are?

If the half-life of the plasma screen really IS 60K hours, then you should have absolutely NO concern about the lifetime of the set. Have you ever had a TV of ANY kind that you put 60K hours on? (At 6 hours of viewing every day, that's like 27 years.) You will be buying newer/cheaper technology long before that gets to be a concern.

Yup, thats what i was calculating as well - at 4hrs a day for 365 days its 41 years

or, 24000 movies at 2.5hrs each

Im looking in to the Hitachi 42HDM12 - good resolution, good price, decent size...gotta do more research tho

You should definitely look at the Panasonic TH-42PX60U.
